Amanda: What does fashion mean to you?
Raya: Fashion is a way of living for me. I’m very interested in it and I love learning new facts about it. Also it inspires me all the time and gives a rhythm to my life. I’m creative and with crazy imagination and fashion is my way to express how I feel and what I love. In the future I can’t imagine myself working something not related to fashion. It just brings light in the darkness that surrounds me.
Amanda: How would you describe your personal style?
Raya: I wouldn't want to define my style with only one word. It's evolving and changing all the time everyday. I love being different and not always dressed according to the season trends. My look really depends on my mood for a shorter or longer period of time. I could feel very different about the same piece of clothing and same refers to the style.
Amanda: What does your style say about you?
Raya: As I said I could wear many styles. In one moment I could be rock chic then turn to ladylike and then turn to a total hippie. All these styles define me in my moods and you could get the idea that I am not monogamous and I like changes. Still it’s hard for people to understand me because they judge me too fast and then they see I’m not always the person my clothes tell about.
Amanda: Who are some of your favorite designers?:
Raya: My tops right now - Burberry, Dsquared, Balmain, Christian Dior, John Galliano, Alexander Wang, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci, Blumarine, Erin Wasson.
Amanda: Are there any trends that you love right now?
Raya: This year’s fall/winter trends are absolutely rocking but I don’t really follow them. Usually I don’t buy clothes or shoes which are fashionable only for a season (mainly because I have limited pocket money) so I have to be careful what I give my money for. But if I’m really impressed with a piece of clothing I just dig all the stores till I find the perfect one. Like this season’s green shearling jacket from Burberry - I just had to find one for me and I’m glad I did. Also I love the camel coats, long skirts and I have a special crush on all the velvet pieces from this fall’s collections.
Amanda: What are your favorite clothing stores/websites/catalogs?
Raya: I don’t have a favorite store or website. I love going shopping and discovering new shops with unique pieces in them. There is one shop called Indian point where I always find really incredible stuff, some from previous collections of big designers and it’s not expensive at all. I’m not a fan of online shopping so I don’t do it and I don’t even have a credit card or so. I prefer touching and feeling the fabric of the clothing before buying it and making sure it’s the right one.
Amanda: Where are you from?
Raya: I am born in Sofia, Bulgaria and now I live in Sofia.
Amanda: What are your favorite hobbies?
Raya: I think I don’t need to say anything else about fashion since I can’t live without it.
This includes shopping, browsing trough blogs, just looking at beautiful clothes and lusting over them. Another hobbie of mine is listening to music. I certainly can’t live without it either. I usually wake up/fall asleep listening to music and it always keeps me in a good mood.
Amanda: Describe yourself. What do you think about yourself and do you think people perceive you in the same way?
Raya: My opinion of me is not much different from others. I am usually very positive, telling jokes all the time, laughing and people around me seem to enjoy that. Also I use much irony/sarcasm and sometimes people don’t get what I’m saying but there were never problems about this bad habit of mine. Even though I’m fun when it comes to serious issues I am very responsible and people can rely on me.
Amanda: Who is one celebrity that you would like to meet?
Raya: I haven’t thought that much on this question. Honestly I’m not sure who exactly I would like to meet but if I have to choose right now, I would say a designer – anyone. I would enjoy hearing of what is he inspired from, how his life is affecting his creativity, what are his future plans and other interesting facts about his career and life.
Amanda: What is your favorite quote?
Raya: I have many and many of them. I even have a notebook where I write down all the good ones. I choose them from books, movies, TV shows songs and others. Right now my favorite one is from Brian Atwood. It says ‘Killed by a stiletto? I can’t imagine a better way to go?’
Amanda: Do you have any goals in life you would like to meet?
Raya: I have just turned 17 and I’m still in high – school so I have one more year to do whatever I want and then it comes the hard part. I’m interested in fashion, art and PR but I still haven’t chosen which one I enjoy most. I hope I get a clear idea of what exactly I want to do and start preparing for the big life very soon. I’m sure I would love to work in a fashion magazine or something like that and be around fashion as much as I can. I can’t say for sure what the future will bring to me but I hope it will be the best! Wish me luck!
